About Us

Sermon

Sound interesting?

The sermons are preached from God's Word and come from the Old and New Testament. In either case, sermons are Christ Centered and will give those who hear God's Word preached, strength for the life God has called us

At times, the sermons become interactive when the pastor will ask for answers from a question that may be posed during the sermon.

There are usually 2 or 3 ideas that the pastor wants to give to each person to ponder while listening and also prays that when everyone leaves they will talk about the sermon together as a family at home or with friends.

The Lillington United Methodist Church (LUMC) Garden Project named Gardening for God is a mission focused on providing fresh produce to those in Harnett County who are in the state of food insecurity.

We manage a 2 acre farm site and several satellite gardens in the area. The satellite gardens are members of the community who have stepped forward to grow produce on their property and offer a portion of their harvest to our project.

They meet monthly for educational information and sharing ideas This effort includes a collaboration with two other local churches, and the community at large. The produce is donated to several local food pantries and a local domestic violence safe house (Harnett Safe House) all who offer food options to marginalized members of the community.

Music

Join our Music Ministry

We sing traditional hymns and praise songs during our worship service.

We also have a choir and we always need new choir members; so if you enjoy singing in our choir, speak to our organist or pianist after the service.

Everyone is most welcome to come and sing to the Glory of God.

Fellowship

Sound interesting?

The people of Lillington United Methodist Church enjoy visiting together, from time to time, at a covered dish meal. There are some great chefs in our church and the food is always abundant.

We draw strength from one another’s faith when we visit together. There is a sense of mutual support and Christian love that extends beyond the morning worship service each Sunday. This love and concern is evident when the congregation warmly greets old friends and new.

One of the fellowship goals of our church is to create a faith community of “Biblical Hospitality.” It means welcoming all people to the regular worship service on Sunday. We would love to have you come and visit. If you find this is a warm and inviting church, speak to the pastor about becoming a member.

Our Windows

Sound interesting? Serve at our local campus!

In the sanctuary there are twenty stained glass windows. Twelve of these depict events in the life of Jesus, six of them show major Old Testament characters, and two of them remind of two of the persons who led the early Methodist revival in England and in colonial America.

Sanctuary In the main part of the sanctuary (often called the nave of the church) there are ten windows depicting the earthly life of Jesus Christ.

Beginning on the south side of the nave, near the kneeling rail, there is the Nativity, next is the Boy Jesus in the Temple, then Jesus Blessing the Little Children, followed by the Feeding of the Multitude and finally the Triumphal Entry into to Jerusalem. The story of Jesus life continues across the isle, near the vestibule. First, is the Last Supper, Jesus as the Good Shepherd, The Resurrection, the Crucifixion, and Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The chancel holds the altar, the place for the choir and pulpit. Around the chancel there are six windows reminding us (on the south side) of Daniel, David and Abraham. On the north side we find Moses, Jacob, and Isaiah.

Vestibule The vestibule is the entrance area between the “front” door and the main seating area. It has four windows, two depicting the life of Jesus and two reminding us of the history of our church.

On the south side of the vestibule we find Jesus calling “the fishers of men” and John Wesley, who God used to revive Christianity in England in the eighteenth century.

On the north side we see Jesus knocking at the door and a picture of Francis Asbury who was used by God to establish Methodism in America.
